BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 7. Türkiye's Kocaeli Port handled 41.5 million tons of cargo from January through July 2024, Trend reports via Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
The ministry detailed that out of the total cargo, 2.8 million tons were transported by Turkish-flagged vessels, while 38.7 million tons were carried by ships registered in other countries.
During the same period, the port handled 1.6 million tons of transit cargo.
In July alone, Turkish ports received 32.2 million tons of cargo. The internal cargo flow for Turkish-flagged ships during this month reached around two and a half million tons.
"Cargo transported by foreign-flagged vessels to Turkish ports amounted to 29.6 million tons," the ministry's report stated.
Additionally, in July 2024, Turkish ports handled 6.46 million tons of transit cargo.
From January to July 2024, Türkiye's ports received a cumulative total of 236.2 million tons of cargo. Turkish-flagged vessels accounted for 17.4 million tons, while foreign-flagged ships contributed to 218.8 million tons.
The report also noted that during the same period, Türkiye's ports processed 40.8 million tons of transit cargo.
In July, Turkish ports welcomed 5,662 ships, with 3,508 being foreign-flagged and 2,154 Turkish-flagged.
Overall, from January to July 2024, Turkish ports received a total of 34,977 vessels, including 23,298 foreign-flagged and 11,679 Turkish-flagged ships.
