BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. The number of passengers arriving at Istanbul Airport increased by five percent year-on-year to 60.6 million in September 2024, the statement from Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.
As per the statement, the airport's passenger turnover for domestic flights in the reporting month took a dip of five percent compared to the same period in 2023 and stood at 13.25 million people, while for international flights, it grew by eight percent to a whopping 47.4 million people.
Meanwhile, the airport's cargo traffic totaled 2.4 million tons, an increase of 14 percent compared to September 2023.
Furthermore, this September, the airport's cargo traffic on domestic flights increased by two percent over the same period of last year to 169,100 tons, and cargo traffic on international flights increased by 15 percent year on year to 2.24 million tons.
The ministerial data also indicates that the number of flights from the airport in September 2024 increased by two percent compared to September 2023 and amounted to 391,489.
Besides, during the repoorting month, the number of flights performed on domestic flights decreased by eight percent to 90,616, while the number of flights performed on international flights increased by six percent to 391,489.
Passenger traffic in all airports in Türkiye in September this year amounted to 177 million people, and cargo traffic - 3.7 million tons.
To note, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in 2023 was 214 million people, and cargo traffic amounted to 4.2 million tons.
