Türkiye ups passenger turnover at Ankara Esenboga International Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 10. The total passenger traffic at the Ankara Esenboga International Airport in Türkiye grew by 8 percent in December 2023 compared to the same period last year and totaled 12.8 million people, the country’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry, the airport's passenger turnover on domestic flights climbed by 5 percent in December 2024 to 9.6 million people and by 14 percent on international flights to 3.2 million people.

The airport's cargo turnover in December this year amounted to 124,568 tons, which is 6 percent more compared to the same month in 2023.

Meanwhile, the airport's cargo turnover on domestic flights increased by 5 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 76,647 tons, while on international flights, it increased by 8 percent to 47,799 tons.

The operational throughput of flights from the airport in December 2024 exhibited a year-over-year augmentation of 4 percent, culminating in a total of 96,882 flights.

Concurrently, the volume of domestic flight operations escalated by 3 percent, reaching a total of 71,540, while the international flight sector experienced a 9 percent uptick, culminating in 25,341 flights.

As of December this year, the aggregate passenger throughput across all airports in Türkiye culminated at 220.9 million individuals; concurrently, the cargo volume transacted registered at 4.9 million metric tons.

In the year 2023, the metric escalated to 117.9 million individuals; concurrently, the freight throughput exceeded 2.4 million tons.
