Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 1 / Trend H. Valiyev /
The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry has prepared new rules for rendering electronic services, the Ministry told Trend on Thursday.
According to the ministry, one of the important aspects of the new rules to be adopted by late 2012 is the development of e-services at a regional level.
The rules reflect the use of online registration of the national domain .az, which is being currently discussed and the number one problem.
"The issue of online registration of the domain .az must be considered through a different prism," a source said. "There are a number of important issues that must be resolved. There are problems with personal identification or the moral norms which must be observed. Some countries, for example, have a list of domain addresses. Their registration is unacceptable. These are internet addresses containing profanity. Unfortunately, we do not have this yet."
A national domain cannot be issued to foreigners or offices of foreign companies in Azerbaijan. This is an objective reason that the online registration system is not available.
According to INTRANS, regarding the technical side, the domain online registration system is ready. The company predicts that it will be available to the public in the near future.
