Idris Rzabayov, the Head of the Fuel and Energy Operations Department of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Industry & Energy, exclusively informed Trend Special Correspond in Kazakhstan that the 3rd production well on the Shah Deniz gas condensate in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian will be commissioned in January 2007. He was attending the second ministerial conference on energy co-operation between the European Union and the Black Sea and Caspian Sea countries.
Commercial gas production from the first well on the field was launched on 10 November. The 2nd well will function in DeСЃember 2006 and the 3rd in January 2007,' he stated.
He said that in 2006 the volume of gas production from the field will be lower than the target, as production was set up later than schedule.
Rzabayov stated that the construction of the gas pipeline in the territory of Turkey is complete.
At present fixing work in the compression stations is underway. The work will be completed by the end of this year and by the beginning of next year Turkey will begin receiving gas, he said.
Azerbaijan will sell gas to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasian Gas Pipeline, which was built on the Georgian-Turkish border. Turkish company BOTAS is involved in the construction of a connecting gas pipeline from Erzerum to the Georgian-Turkish border at its own expense.
