BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. TotalEnergies has announced a 7% decline in hydrocarbon production for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the third quarter of 2024, bringing production down to 465 kboe/d compared to 498 kboe/d in the previous quarter, Trend reports.
The decrease was attributed to unplanned maintenance activities at the Ichthys LNG facility, the producer explained.
Despite the production drop, TotalEnergies saw an 8% quarter-on-quarter increase in overall LNG sales, reaching 9.5 Mt in 3Q2024. This growth in sales was driven primarily by higher spot volumes, influenced by seasonal inventory replenishment needs.
Within these sales, LNG from equity production reached 3.8 Mt, a slight 3% rise from 2Q2024, while third-party purchases helped boost TotalEnergies’ equity and third-party sales to 8.4 Mt, marking an 11% increase from the previous quarter.
The company’s liquids production saw a 9% decrease, amounting to 52 kb/d compared to 64 kb/d in Q2 2024. However, gas production for LNG demonstrated resilience, with a slight dip from 2,351 Mcf to 2,263 Mcf, a reduction of 4%.
