ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 13. In 2024, the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas, set a new record by processing 5.5 million tons of oil, Trend reports via KazMunayGas.
"The plant’s product output included: 1.6 billion tons of motor gasoline (a 3.5 percent increase), 1.8 billion tons of diesel fuel (a 1.4 percent increase), 236,000 tons of aviation fuel (a 16.5 percent increase), 321,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (a 3.5 percent increase), and 360,000 tons of road bitumen (a 24.5 percent increase)," noted KazMunayGas.
The technological fuel and losses indicator decreased to 6.6 percent, which is 0.3 percent lower than in 2023.
The first phase of the diesel fuel hydrodesulfurization unit (DFU) reconstruction project was completed, with the second phase now underway. Once finished, the plant will be capable of producing winter-grade diesel fuel with a freezing point of -28°C, which is highly sought after in the northern regions.
A wastewater filtration station project, which followed the first stage of the biological treatment system by the Water Supply and Sewerage Department, has been completed, leading to significant environmental improvements and better water resource utilization.
In the latter half of the year, the Air Compressor Station was upgraded with high-powered compressors, ensuring stable air supply for technological processes. This expansion resulted in improved product quality and a 15 percent savings in energy resources.
Furthermore, the reconstruction of the Automatic Fire Alarm and Fire Extinguishing System at the Raw Material Parks (RMP) of the Compounding and Oil Product Shipping Department was completed. The project led to the implementation of automatic firefighting control systems in 38 tank farms.
A five-year project for a liquefied hydrocarbon gas unit using Merox technology was also finalized, enhancing product quality and reducing mercaptan sulfur emissions, thereby improving regional air quality.
Additionally, the Pavlodar Oil Refinery reached new highs in 2024 with a light oil product output of 73.2 percent and a refining depth of 91.5 percent.
