ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 15. Kazakhstan National Bank increased the volume of payment systems in 2024 to 1.487 trillion tenge (about $2.83 billion), 51.7 percent more than in 2023, Trend reports via Kazakhstan’s National Bank.
"The highest number of transactions is processed between 16:00 and 17:00 hours. The average daily transaction volume conducted on business days through the national payment systems (Interbank Money Transfer System and Interbank Clearing System) amounted to 5.9 trillion tenge (approximately $11.21)," the report from the National Bank of Kazakhstan states.
The information also noted that the average amount of a single payment in the National Bank's payment systems in 2024 was 16.9 million tenge (approximately $32,110), which is 27.4 percent (3.6 million tenge or approximately $6,840) higher than in 2023.
"The operational efficiency of the National Bank’s payment systems in 2024 exceeded the established target indicators, reaching 99.96 percent. This confirms the high availability and uninterrupted operation of the national payment systems," the National Bank added.
The National Bank of Kazakhstan operates the Interbank Money Transfer System (IMTS) and the Interbank Clearing System (ICS). These payment systems ensure the uninterrupted operation of the national payment system and provide the necessary infrastructure for cashless transactions in Kazakhstan.
