ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 15. Alikhan Smailov, the Chairman of Kazakhstan's Accounts Chamber, met with Muhammad Ajmal Gondal, the Auditor General of Pakistan, to discuss enhancing cooperation in areas such as sharing practical experience, adopting best audit practices, implementing advanced audit methods, and digitalizing audit procedures, among other topics, Trend reports via Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The talks took place during the 7th meeting of the heads of supreme audit institutions of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

In the course of the meeting, Alikhan Smailov noted that the Accounts Chamber and the Office of the Auditor General have long-standing close relations both bilaterally and within major international organizations, including the SCO.

"In 2024, we successfully conducted a parallel audit in the agricultural sector. We thank our colleagues from Pakistan for their active cooperation in this area," said the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber.

He also reminded that last year, the two countries' institutions were elected as members of the Board of Governors of ASOSAI (Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions).

"I am confident that our cooperation will continue to strengthen for the benefit of our countries," added Alikhan Smailov.

ASOSAI is the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions, which brings together supreme audit chambers and similar bodies from Asian countries. The organization promotes the exchange of experience, the development and implementation of best practices in the field of auditing, and helps strengthen professional ties among countries in the region.
