ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 19. Turkmenistan has maintained a stable upward trend in the issuance of bank cards in the first half of 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank shows that the number of bank cards in circulation increased from 5,996,326 as of January 1 to 6,164,275 as of July 1. This reflects a net growth of over 167,000 cards in six months, underscoring consistent demand for non-cash payment tools.
Monthly figures indicate steady momentum: the number reached 6,053,916 in February, briefly dipped in March to 6,033,076, then resumed growth in subsequent months—standing at 6,071,994 in April, 6,106,100 in May, and 6,131,939 in June.
The Central Bank of Turkmenistan, founded in 1991, regulates the country’s monetary policy and banking operations. It plays a key role in financial oversight, economic stability, and the modernization of banking services nationwide.
