ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 19. The development of digital trade in Turkmenistan continues to show a strong regional footprint, with Ashgabat accounting for more than two-thirds of all e-commerce service connections nationwide.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank shows that as of July 1, 2025, a total of 923 merchants were registered in the national e-commerce system. Ashgabat led with 628 connections, followed by Lebap (72), Balkan (66), Mary (62), Dashoguz (50), Ahal (40), and Arkadag (5).
The figures reflect a continuing national effort to digitize commercial infrastructure and improve accessibility to online trade, particularly in provincial centers. The e-commerce system is supported by leading banks and is seen as a key driver in boosting digital economic participation across the country.
