ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 20. The number of internet banking users in Turkmenistan continues to grow steadily, reaching 1,218,505 registered accounts across all regions as of July 1, 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank indicates that Mary region leads with 276,490 users, followed closely by the capital Ashgabat with 277,047 and Lebap with 266,120. Other notable figures include Balkan (164,910), Dashoguz (131,298), and Ahal (96,581). The city of Arkadag, Turkmenistan’s newest administrative center, recorded 6,059 users.
These figures highlight Turkmenistan’s ongoing transition to digital banking services, improving accessibility and modernizing the national financial ecosystem in line with the country’s digital development strategy.
The Central Bank of Turkmenistan, established in 1991, continues to play a pivotal role in overseeing the country’s financial system. It manages currency issuance, monetary policy, foreign exchange, and banking supervision, contributing to the stability and modernization of Turkmenistan’s economy.
