BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 24. Azerbaijan's exports of nuts increased by 33.1 percent, citrus fruits by 54 percent, apples, pears, and quinces by 53.6 percent, apricots, cherries, and peaches by 33 percent, pomegranates by 37.7 percent, and other fruits by 76.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Agriculture indicates that compared to the same period last year, vegetable exports increased by 22.6 percent.
In particular, in the first seven months of this year, Azerbaijan's exports of potatoes to foreign markets increased by 46.8 percent, tomatoes by 22.8 percent, and watermelons and melons by more than half.
"The increase affected not only the volume of vegetable and melon production, but also the value of exports. Revenue from potato exports in value terms (in US dollars) increased by 37.5 percent, tomatoes by 12.4 percent, and watermelons and melons by 86.4 percent," the information notes.
