A waste incineration plant on utilization of wastes in Baku and surrounding settlements will be built in Azerbaijan, Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan said.
French Constructions Industrielles de la Mediterranee S.A won the international bid on designing, construction and operation of the plant. An agreement has already been signed with the company.
Company has 50 years experience and is the executor of similar projects in the field of designing, building and operating the plants, which generate electric power from wastes in such countries as France, Great Britain, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.
The agreement envisages building a plant with a capacity of 500,000 tons of wastes per year, and also its 20 years operation upon "turn-key" type.
The plant will consist of two lines, each of which will be capable to utilize 250,000 tons of wastes and turbine, which generates electric power in volume of 230 MWt, and also the contemporary technologies, which correspond to the European Union standards.
The ashes, resulting from incineration of wastes, can be used in the building of roads. Nearly 400 new work places (engineers, technical workers and workers) will be created at the plant.
According to agreement, the work on designing and building of plant will be completed for three years. A consulting company will be involved to control on construction and operation of plant.
The cost of project is €346 million. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development displayed its interest in financing the project.
