Astana hosted the third meeting of the Turkmen-Kazakh intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, Turkmen dovlat khabarlari (TDK) news service reported.
The commission's co-chairman and Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers Deputy Chairman Tachberdi Tagiyev who supervises over fuel-energy sector led the Turkmen delegation. The meeting focused on exchange of opinions to advance bilateral agreements, as well as perspectives and priorities of the intergovernmental dialogue. The sides approved adherence to obligations to implement large-scale projects on construction of the Turkmenistan-China and Caspian gas pipelines and upgrade the acting gas transport system.
According to the TDK, the participants of the meeting stressed importance to immediately implement the construction project of the Uzen-Gizilgaya-Bereket-Etek-Gorgan railway which is considered to be an important transport-communication corridor connecting the European and Asian countries. Key directions of cooperation comprised trade-economic, fuel-energy, transport fields and agriculture and fishery.
The meeting also focused on fulfilling mutual financial obligations. The participants stressed importance of interaction between the countries' Trade-Industrial chambers, including regularly holding joint events, such as business-forums, workshops and all-possible exhibition-fairs. A special attention was attached to cooperation in humanitarian field.
The fourth meeting of the intergovernmental commission will take place in Ashgabat in 2010.
