Iran assigns €250 million to power and water projects

Iranian government has assigned €250 million from the National Development Fund to the priority power and water projects, said the deputy energy minister.

"€150 million of this amount will be used for the completion of the project on water supply to villages, €50 million to sustain and improve the quality of drinking water and around €50 million to tackle the dust on the country's electricity grid," said Mohsen Bakhtiyar, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.

"Furthermore, secure financial resources are predicted to assign to support of power industry and renewable energies in next Iranian year (starts March 21, 2020) budget plan," Bakhtiyar said.

"In new year budget bill, around $476 million is allocated to pay the government debts, while government shall approve issue of foreign currency and rial-based bonds to complete unfinished construction plans and pay debt payments to contractors," the deputy minister added.

"About $6.1 billion has been assigned to return resources to power and water industry. Special attention has been paid to credit distribution in next year budget plan to address the needs in drinking water and compensate the groundwater negative balance," Bakhtiyar said.

The official has also indicated that the credits for asset ownership of the Ministry of Energy and the subsidiary organization in next Iranian year budget plan is around $2.1 billion.
