By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:
The volume of agricultural subsidies in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.2 trillion tenge ($2.9 billion) over the course of last five years, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov said, Trend reports with reference to the ministry.
Thus, he said the subsidies value increased from 152 billion tenge ($375.5 million) in 2014 to 324.3 billion tenge ($801.1 million) in 2019.
Saparov noted that this allowed Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector to show progressive development.
“Over the past 5 years, the gross agricultural output increased 1.7 times and amounted to 5.2 trillion tenge ($12.8 billion). The analysis showed that the increase was due to a twofold increase in production volumes at group farms that receive subsidies. At the same time, the growth of production in personal subsidiary plots of the population amounted to only 30 percent,” Saparov said.
He also talked on the importance of agricultural sector.
“Agriculture is the real sector of the economy, currently many countries are increasing state support measures due to the coronovirus pandemic. The main effect of state support is in those farms that receive it; development dynamics can be observed there,” he said.
Earlier this year Saparov said that regional budget allocated 11.3 billion tenge (425.9 million) to subsidize seed production development this year, whereas 2.5 billion tenge ($5.7 million) were allocated from the republican budget to purchase nearly 29,400 tons of seeds and 838,700 elite seedlings.
