In 2008, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (Socar) transferred roughly 7.4 million tons of oil for refining in 2008, the company said in a message.
In December, 614,120 tons oil was handed over for refining.
Azerbaijani oil products are produced at two Socar-owned Baku oil refineries with the total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Socar annually processes roughly six million tons of oil produced from onshore and offshore fields through its owns funds.
There are 57 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan, with 18 of them offshore. Socar staff has totaled 63,000 people.
