The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) covers about 75 percent of the oil products retail sales market in Georgia with 61 gas stations, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said.
According to him, after increasing the number of gas stations under the SOCAR brand in Georgia to 100-125 units, the company will cover a large share of the market segment.
SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is SOCAR's subsidiary in Georgia, said earlier that by late 2011 the company will increase its number of gas stations in Georgia to 95 units.
The co-founders of SOCAR Energy Georgia are: SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 24.5 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 24.5 percent
Currently, SOCAR has six stations in Baku, but their number will increase to 26-30 units in the future. The company also has gas stations in Ukraine, and is working on opening stations in Romania.
