The French company Technip won a tender on technical design of the synthetic fuel production plant (GTL process) worth $2.739 billion in Kashkadarya region (south of Uzbekistan), a source in the government of the republic said today.
Technip signed a contract with the operator to build a plant - "Uzbekistan GTL" joint venture.
It was previously reported that Technip developed a feasibility study for the GTL plant construction in accordance with the contract signed with Uzbekistan GTL in March 2010.
Malaysian company Petronas's share in the joint venture reduced to 11 per cent share this year. The share of Sasol and "Uzbekneftegaz" is 44.5 per cent.
Uzbekneftegaz, Sasol and Petronas signed a trilateral investment agreement and the plant construction project in September 2011.
According to the preliminary estimates, the GTL plant construction on the basis of Shurtan Gas and Chemical Complex is planned to be completed in 2017.
The plant will process 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas and produce 672,000 tons of diesel oil, 278,000 tons of air fuel, 361,000 tons of naphtha and 63,000 tons of liquefied gas.
The project will be financed from own funds of Petronas, Sasol and Uzbekneftegaz, as well as the consortium of banks and financial institutions.
The Shurtan Gas and Chemical Complex was commissioned in 2001. The enterprise annually produces 137 tons of liquefied gas, 130,000 tons of light condensate and 4.2 billion cubic meters of marketable gas and 4,000 tons of sulfur.
