Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has ordered the construction of a gas processing plant with a five billion cubic metre capacity at the Karachaganak oil and gas field.
"We need to complete the design and begin the construction of a gas processing plant with capacity of five billion cubic metres per year in the Karachaganak field. In this regard, I have ordered the government to design and commission a pipeline system that will provide the gasification of the central region of the country, including the capital," Mr Nazarbayev said at a joint session of Parliament during his annual message to the people on Friday.
Mr Nazarbayev added that the construction of the plant will enable the country to avoid gas dependence on other states.
