Georgian Telasi electricity distribution company distributed 2.63 billion kW/h of electricity in 2020, which is 9.2 percent (268 million kWh) less than in first half of 2019, Trend reports referring to the company's website.
The decrease in electricity consumption is due to the introduction of the State of Emergency in Georgia (from March 21 to May 22 inclusive) in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, which caused the suspension of work of a number of companies and enterprises. From the end of November 2020, restrictions were again applied in the country.
In 2020, the volume of net supply of electricity to consumers decreased by 9.8 percent (by 201.8 million kWh) compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 2.47 billion kWh of electricity. The decrease in this indicator is also due to restrictions in the country's economy.
In 2020, the number of subscribers of Telasi increased by 3.5 percent (23,200 subscribers) compared to 2019 and amounted to 613,200 subscribers, of which 67,400 are individuals and 66,800 are legal entities.
In the reporting period, the total length of the company's power lines reached 6,098 km, which is 3.6 percent (211 km) more than in 2019 (5,887 km).
The total length of the company's power lines has increased due to the development of the network, the growth of subscribers' number, and renovation and modernization work.
Telasi is one of the largest electricity distribution companies in Georgia, which distributes electricity in Tbilisi. The company supplies electricity to more than 600,000 consumers.
