Azerbaijan begins output of decoders for digital TV

Azerbaijani computer equipment producer KUR will demonstrate two new DVB-T decoder for digital TV under Prestije brand within the 17th Azerbaijani telecommunications exhibition BakuTel -2011, KUR told Trend.

KUR has already produced dozens of decoders in a trial version. Launch of devices to mass production is expected after an assessment of market needs.

KUR has already launched initial batch of these devices in the domestic market.
At present, KUR is mastering the production process to launch a decoder in assembly-line production. Upon receipt to production line, these devices will be classified as different models. Serial production of the equipment at the facilities of the plant will significantly reduce their costs and make them more accessible for the general population.

Increased sales of DVB-T decoders will depend on population's needs. To this end, KUR is negotiating with a network of capital's household appliances retail sales market.

The first digital package consisting of ten local channels will be available at 90 percent of Azerbaijani territory few months later. Following this, the ministry will propose to limit the import of television sets receiving signals of analog broadcasting, Azerbaijani

Full transfer to digital broadcasting in Azerbaijan will happen in the first quarter of 2013.
