The lane on the second part of the Tehran-Shomal (north of Iran - Mazandaran Province) freeway will be commissioned in the spring of next Iranian year (to start March 21, 2021), Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami told journalists, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The minister noted that 21 trillion rials (about $500 million) will be spent on the mentioned lane.
The minister added that the first part of this freeway was put into operation in the 12th month of last Iranian year (February 19-March 19, 2020).
According to Eslami, the freeway will be fully operational in the next five years.
Iran-Shomal (North) freeway connects Tehran province to Chalus county of Mazandaran province in northern Iran. The highway consists of four parts.
The length of the first section is 32 km, the length of the second section - 22 km, the length of the third section - 47 km, and the length of the fourth section - 20 km.
The fourth section of the highway was the first to be commissioned in 2015. Taking into account a great number of visits to the Iranian northern regions during the holidays in Iran, this highway is of great importance, the report said.
Over $1 billion has been spent on this highway during the period of the current Iranian government’s activity (which came to power in August 2013).
Some 850 billion rials (about $20 million) have been allocated for the road connecting the fourth section of the highway to the third section.
