ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 22. Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects for the development of transport cooperation, Trend reports.
These issues were discussed during the next meeting of the joint commission on international road transport, at which the Turkmenistan's delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Turkmenawtoulaglary Agency (Turkmen automobile service), and the Kazakh delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Transport Committee of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting of the commission, the parties discussed the current state of road transport between the two countries and the prospects for their further increase.
They noted that both countries effectively use the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transnational railway, which allows transporting goods to the countries of the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean region, as well as to Europe.
Meanwhile, transport cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan plays a key role in the development and strengthening of economic relations in the Central Asian region, covering rail and road routes, seaports and transit shipments, which contributes to more efficient cargo transportation, trade facilitation and expansion of regional integration.
