Kazakhstan's cargo transportation prices soar

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 8. Tariffs for cargo transportation in Kazakhstan over the year (from March 2023 through March 2024) increased by 4.4 percent, Trend reports.

According to the country's Bureau of National Statistics, tariffs for the transportation of goods by road increased by 2.8 percent. In particular, tariffs for the transportation of frozen and chilled products increased the most (an increase of 28.7 percent). The price for transporting goods within the republic (by road) increased by 3.4 percent.

At the same time, tariffs for cargo transportation by air increased by 1.7 percent, of which international traffic - by 2.3 percent and domestic - by 0.5 percent.

In addition, the tariffs for transporting goods by sea (international traffic) increased by 11.2 percent.

Moreover, pipeline transportation in annual terms increased in price by 2.7 percent. The increase affected crude oil supplies – by 8.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Kazakhstan amounted to 980.7 million tons from January through December 2023. This is 4.5 percent more than the same period in 2022. Cargo turnover for the preceding period totaled 501.3 billion ton-kilometers, which is 3.1 percent more than from January through December 2022.

In addition, regionally, from January through December 2023, an increase in cargo turnover was noted in the cities of: Shymkent (27.1 percent), Almaty (24.7 percent), Astana (15 percent), Pavlodar (26.4 percent), North Kazakhstan (12.6 percent), West Kazakhstan (12 percent), Kyzylorda (8.7 percent), Karaganda (6.3 percent), Aktobe (4.4 percent), and Kostanay (1.8 percent) regions.
