BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 17. Kyrgyzstan plans to open labor mobility centers, Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration Ravshanbek Sabirov announced during a meeting with the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Kyrgyzstan, Bermet Moldobaeva, Trend reports.
"Kyrgyzstan is committed to protecting the rights and well-being of its migrant workers by providing them with the knowledge and resources necessary for a safer and more productive migration experience. We plan to establish labor mobility centers, which will serve as centralized hubs, offering vital information from qualified staff to migrants," said the minister.
The meeting addressed issues of both internal and external migration, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation on joint projects.
Specifically, the Ministry and IOM intend to work on enhancing pre-departure training for migrant workers, providing key information and support to help them make informed decisions and prepare for their upcoming journey.
In turn, the head of the IOM office in Kyrgyzstan highlighted the relevance of programs for seasonal workers with short-term stays in agriculture and poultry sectors, based on a licensed visa scheme under the IOM project.
Additionally, the parties emphasized the importance of organizing pre-departure training sessions that provide a safe platform for migrants to ask questions and voice concerns. This helps migrants better understand their rights, responsibilities, and potential risks.
The training also equips them with the skills and awareness needed to successfully adapt to a new society, offering valuable advice on accessing support channels while working abroad, with a special focus on aiding the integration of women.
