DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 24. A total of 7.829 million payment cards have been issued in Tajikistan as of the end of August 2024, which is 26 percent more compared to the same period last year, when their number was 6.238 million, Trend reports.
According to Tajikistan's National Bank, about 14.617 million transactions were made using bank cards as of the reporting date, of which 7.953 million were cash withdrawals and 6.665 million were payments for goods and services.
During the reporting period, the number of bank card holders in the country was 7.602 million people. As of the end of August, 7,768 POS terminals and 2,776 ATMs were installed in Tajikistan.
Meanwhile, as of the end of August 2024, a total of 63 credit financial organizations were operating in Tajikistan, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
