Japanese embassy pledges enduring support for business activities in Turkmenistan (Exclusive)

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. The Japanese Embassy in Ashgabat will continue to support the activities of Japanese companies in Turkmenistan, a source in the embassy told Trend.

Regarding future plans and activities, the source said that the embassy's top priority will be to assist and enhance bilateral ties between Turkmenistan and Japan in a number of spheres.

"Our Embassy will continue to support and strengthen bilateral relations between Japan and Turkmenistan in various areas of political, cultural, and economic cooperation, including support for the activities of Japanese companies in Turkmenistan and projects to improve the qualifications of Turkmen specialists in various fields organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)," the source said.

As per the source, the embassy's goal is to work closely with the Turkmen side to ensure the successful staging of the Summit Meeting of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue.

"This year's summit meeting of the "Central Asia plus Japan" Dialogue is being organized in cooperation with the governments of Japan and Central Asia. For the success of this summit meeting, the Embassy would like to work more closely with the Turkmen side," the source added.

At the same time, it was noted that the Embassy of Japan plans to hold PR events for the EXPO in Turkmenistan next year in preparation for EXPO 2025.

"In addition, the EXPO 2025 is scheduled to be held in Osaka in April 2025. The opening ceremony will be held on April 13, and the following day will be Turkmenistan's EXPO National Day. In preparation for the EXPO, the Embassy is planning to hold PR events for the EXPO in Turkmenistan," the source concluded.

To note, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov visited Japan in late January 2024.

During the visit, the delegation held meetings in the government, parliament, relevant ministries and departments, as well as with the leadership of financial and export credit agencies and leading Japanese companies, where they discussed further prospects for the development of cooperation.
