TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 22. Uzbekistan produced 1.3 million tons of coal from January through April 2024, Trend reports.

According to the data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, the volume of coal production has decreased by 7.1 percent year-on-year (1.4 million tons in January–April 2023).

At the same time, the country’s production of coal increased to 331,100 tons in April 2024, compared to 968,900 tons in January–March 2024.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan plans to increase coal production to 10 million tons by 2025.

The plans to enhance coal production were presented to Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

To note, Uzbekistan plans to produce 8 million tons of coal this year, with 900,000 tons coming from entrepreneurs.

A coal preparation factory in Shargunkumir, JSC, with a yearly capacity of 500,000 tons, is planned to be opened by the country. Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, and Tashkent are the other locations where Uzbekistan intends to begin production in 2025.
