Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and People's Republic of China supplement each other in economic and political domains, IRNA reported.

He made the remark among reporters upon his arrival in the Chinese capital of Beijing.

Salehi said that Iran and China are two important players in west and east of Asia.

'It goes without saying that Iran is in a special position in the Middle East and China is also in a special position in eastern Asia,' he added.

The minister noted that both Iran and China need bilateral cooperation.

'China as an emerging economic power has a unique status in the world. China has become the world's second economic power,' Salehi added.

Referring to the development of Tehran-Beijing ties in recent years, Salehi noted that the volume of trade transactions between Iran and China is nearly $30 billion and both countries have potentials for boosting their economic cooperation.

'China is implementing a series of good projects in finance format in Iran,' he added.
