BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 24. In the past 100 days, 322 kilometers of roads and railways have been put into operation in Iran, according to Trend.
Hooshang Bazvand, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran and Executive Director of the company responsible for the construction and development of transport infrastructure, reported that during this period, a 241 km long highway, a 61 km long railway line, and a 20 km long restored railway section were completed. Bazvand emphasized that the work on expanding the road and railway network is progressing rapidly.
It is also noteworthy that in Iran, roads with a total length of 700 to 1000 kilometers are typically commissioned each year. In the past year (from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024), this figure reached 730 km. This year (from March 20, 2024, to March 20, 2025), Iran plans to commission 820 km of roads.
Currently, the total length of railway lines in Iran stands at 14,984 kilometers, with the country operating 993 locomotives, 29,950 freight cars, and 2,178 passenger cars.
