Secretary of the Iranian Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers Habibollah Ansari said that in the past seven years, Iran's domestic appliance export has been on the rise, ISNA news agency reported Feb. 14.

"Iranian goods find the most consumption in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sudan markets, but they are also exported to countries such as Italy and the UK as well as central Asian countries," he said.

"Until a few years ago, LCD and LED TV sets were rarely produced in the country. But 8 months into this year (Iranian fiscal year started March 21, 2014), the production of these types of TVs has had 22 percent growth," Ansari added.

"The production of refrigerators and automatic washing machines have seen 30 and 38 percent increase respectively in the period."

The official said that the country enjoys a desirable status regarding major appliances, adding that for example the output of oven manufacturing firms stands at 1.2 million appliances.

"In Iranian calendar year of 1386 (Mar. 21 2007 to Mar. 20 2008) the production of high-energy-consumption appliances stood at $82 million while the number hit $300 million last fiscal year. Also, over $20 million worth of no-energy appliances are exported," Ansari said.
He further noted that the home appliances industry's major raw materials are copper, aluminum, and petrochemical products which are all produced in Iran.

Iran's total home appliances output increased by 8 percent in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - November 22, 2014).

"Iran annually exports over $250 million worth of home appliances," Ansari stated on Dec. 27.

"This year, customs' tariff for importing home appliances reached 85 percent from the previous figure of 50-55 percent. This created a good opportunity for domestic manufacturers to boost their production," he said.
