(Prime-News) вЂ" Mikheil Saakashvili, president of Georgia is ready to meet Sergey Bagapsh, de facto president of the unrecognized republic Abkhazia, without any pre-conditions.

Gela Bezhuashvili, Foreign Minister of Georgia told journalists that it should be a meeting oriented on results and not a meeting for a meeting's sake, reports Trend.

Sergey Bagapsh, stated at the briefing on Tuesday that he is ready to meet Mikheil Saakashvili if Georgian side is ready to undertake measures on restoration of trust.

If the agreements on demilitarisation of the Kodori Gorge is not fulfilled, if terrorist acts still occur in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia, it is senseless to sit at the table of negotiations, Bagapsh stated.

Georgia says it only has police forces in upper Kodori Gorge to provide security.

The Abkhaz leader also stressed that mutual confidence is a key condition for resuming negotiations between the conflicting sides.

Bagapsh offers the Georgian side to sign an agreement on non-resumption of hostilities.

I offer the Georgian side to demonstrate its aspirations for peace not in words but in deed. Then, we will have good prospects for an effective dialogue, Bagapsh said.
