Lebanese army commander Gen. Jean Qahwaji said Wednesday that the army is ready for all sacrifices in case there is an Israeli aggression against Lebanon, local Elnashra website reported.
"Lebanon will stand united through its army, its people and its resistance to confront any aggression," Qahwaji told army officers and soldiers during a tour to south Lebanon, Xinhua reported.
The Lebanese army, he said, is committed to implementing all UN resolutions and cooperating with UN interim Forces in Lebanon ( UNIFIL).
However, he warned that "those who have implicit intentions will not be allowed to drag us into a confrontation which is not calculated according to our interest."
He added that the Israeli bet on dividing the Lebanese will be a disappointment for them.
Addressing army soldiers, he said that the army should preserve democracy and freedom, and should stay neutral towards all the citizens.
The Lebanese army has reinforced its troops in south Lebanon since three Katyusha rockets were fired last week from south Lebanon into Israel.
