Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 13 / Trend corr N. Kirtzkhalia / A meeting was held between Grigol Mgaloblishvili, Georgian premier, and Democrat-Senate John Kerry, former U.S. presidential candidate, in the Georgia state office. Journalists could only partake in the handshake of the premier and senator, while the meeting ran behind the closed doors. After 40-minute meeting, neither the premier nor his guest made comments on the result of the meeting.
According to the U.S. embassy in Georgia, the Georgian-American cooperation and political situation in the region were discussed during the meeting. In January 2009, Kerry will hold the post of the committee chairman on foreign relations in the U.S. Senate.
Within the visit, Kerry will meet with Mikheil Saakashvili, president of Georgia, representatives of the Parliamentary majorities and opposition on Dec. 13.
