MP Asim Mollazade has been reelected as the chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party (DRP). This decision was taken today at the party's congress.

Giving a speech before the congress delegates after his reelection, Mollazade thanked for their confidence and said he would continue to serve the interests of the Party and Azerbaijan so that it gain a worthy place in the international arena.

Mollazade made a summary report on the activities conducted since the previous, second congress. He said it was pleasant that the congress coincided with the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence and mentioned the achievements of the country for 20 years.
Speaking about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the party leader stressed that Armenia, who started the conflict, is today on the verge of losing its independence.

"Today, Azerbaijan needs peace. However, it is impossible to speak of peace with a non-independent state. Over the past 20 years, the Armenian population has decreased from 3.5 to 1.5 million people. Leading enterprises of the country have been sold to foreign countries, and as Armenia has lost its independence, we are negotiating with its owners," said the DRP chairman.

The party chairman also spoke about the potential of Azerbaijan in the international arena.

"Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made a proposal to create a structure called the "Eurasian Union". I would like to say that Azerbaijan is also able to create such a structure and to organize the core of this structure. But for this, first of all, we need peace. Seeing such a potential of Azerbaijan, some forces artificially create conflicts in the region," said Mollazade.
DRP chairman's report was unanimously adopted.

According to the requirement of the Party's Charter, the members of the Political Council and Central Inspection Commission were reelected. Asim Mollazade, Rauf Talishinski, İngilab Ahmadov, Nazim Abdullayev, Eduard Chernin, Fatimat Agamirzayeva, Gulnare Mammadzade, Mardan Afandiyev, Ulker Abdullayeva, İlgar Huseynov, Ramin Hajili were elected members of Political Council, and Ilkin Hasanov, Chingiz Abdullayev, Roman Temnikov - members of the Central Inspection Commission.
