According to the spokesman for the Azerbaijan National Volleyball Federation, Zohrab Gozalbayli, all documents of the Ukrainian woman are in order, but an official agreement for playing on the Azerbaijan team should be given by the International Volleyball Federation's Administrative Council. "The problem is the federation holds meetings once in two years, therefore it is unknown whether Lidia will play for the Azerbaijani team in the near future or not," he said.
Maksimenko played for the Azerbaijani national team at the Heydar Aliyev Cup, but was not allowed to play at the European Grand-Prix competitions in Ankara, Turkey, and the continent championships in Belgium and Luxemburg.
