BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. TotalEnergies reported a hydrocarbon production of 2,409 kboe/d for the third quarter of 2024, reflecting a slight decline of 1% from the previous quarter, Trend reports.

Despite facing unplanned shutdowns in key facilities, the company benefited from the ramp-up of its Mero 2 project in Brazil, which helped offset some of the production disruptions.

According to the producer, the output breakdown showed that oil output (including bitumen) stood at 1,324 kb/d, with a minimal increase from the prior quarter, while gas production, encompassing condensates and associated natural gas liquids (NGL), totaled 1,086 kb/d, a 3% drop.

The modest decline in hydrocarbon production was largely attributed to security-related disruptions in Libya and unplanned maintenance in the Ichthys LNG facility, TotalEnergies explained.

Year-on-year, TotalEnergies recorded a 1% growth in hydrocarbon output, excluding Canada, driven by project expansions.

Notable developments included the launch and ramp-up of projects like Mero 2 in Brazil, Tommeliten Alpha and Eldfisk North in Norway, Akpo West in Nigeria, and Block 10 in Oman, collectively contributing a 2% increase in output. Higher production facility availability also added 3% to the total, while natural field decline and security issues caused slight setbacks.
