ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 30. The bulk of non-cash payments in Kazakhstan from January through April 2025 were made via Internet and mobile banking - 80.5 percent of the total number and 90 percent of the volume of non-cash payments and money transfers, Trend reports.
Operations via POS terminals accounted for 19.4 percent by number and 9.6 percent by volume of cashless payments. Regarding cash withdrawals, they were predominantly done through ATMs — which accounted for 98.3 percent by number and 85.2 percent by volume of withdrawals.
These data indicate significant digitization of financial services and increased user trust in cashless payment methods.
Kazakh Analysts note that the active implementation of new technologies, increased convenience, and security of transactions via internet and mobile applications encourage consumers to switch to cashless payments. Meanwhile, the decline in cash withdrawal transactions reflects changing financial behavior of the population oriented toward a digital economy.
