ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, June 25. Internet banking usage in Turkmenistan is concentrated in key regions, with a total of 1.21 million registered users as of June 1, 2025, Trend reports.
According to analytics from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan,
the regions of Ashgabat and Mary are at the forefront, boasting
274,029 and 274,912 registered users, respectively. Additional
territories encompass Lebap, boasting a user base of 264,445;
Balkan, with a demographic count of 164,011; Dashoguz, at 130,273;
Akhal, with 96,081; and Arkadag, which registers a modest 5,884
users.
This indicates a consistent upward trajectory in the uptake of
digital banking services relative to prior assessment
intervals.
Founded in 1991, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan functions as the
principal authority governing the nation's financial architecture,
orchestrating currency issuance, formulating monetary policy,
managing foreign exchange operations, and executing banking
oversight, thereby serving a pivotal role in sustaining economic
