Surplus of Azerbaijani public budget makes up 8.9 percent of GDP

In January-February 2010, the Public budget income comprised 1632.3 million manats, or 26.6 percent of GDP. This index decreased by 9.3 percent, compared to the same period in 2009, the government said.

Public budget expenditures decreased by 24.9 percent and made up 1081.6 million manat (17.7 percent of the GDP). The surpluses of the budget totaled 550.7 million manat (8.9 percent of GDP). As of March 1, the total GDP hit 6.128 billion manat.

The Taxes Ministry remitted 44.9 percent of all income, or 733.2 million manat to the Public budget. The State Customs Committee remitted 130.3 million manat (with a special weight of 2.1 percent) in taxes and duties to the public budget and other sources- 768.8 million manat (12.5 percent).

In this period a total of 293.3 million manats was obtained from VAT, or 18 percent of all income, 329 million manat (20.2 percent) - profit taxes, 76.4 million manats (4.7 percent) - income taxes, 70.1 million manat (3.8 percent) - excise taxes, 10.3 million manats (0.6 percent) - property taxes, and 23.2 million manats (1.4 percent) -royalties and 29.1 million manat (1.8 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.

In January -February 2010, the public budget expense for social security and provision of people comprised 216.3million manats (with a weight of 20 percent), 115 million manat (10.6 percent) was spent on education, 25.5 million (2.4 percent) - health, 74 million (6.8 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 402.8 million (37.2  percent)- investment allocations, 13 million (1.2 percent) - housing and communal services, 18.5 million (1.7 percent) - agriculture, fishing, 4.4 million (0.4 percent) - transport and communications, and 38.8 percent (419.2 million manats) of Public expenses were spent on the payment of salaries, pension and allowances.
