Iran exports 300 tons of tea to Russia and Kenya

Iran exported 300 tons of tea to Russia and Kenya this solar year (starting March 20, 2011), IRNA quoted governor of Tonekabon Ebrahim Hasehmi as saying.

"The exported tea is worth $300,000 while the west of Gilan province also exported 80 tons of dried tea to Kenya valued at $60,000 ," he said.

Iran exports 54,000 tons of tea annually. The country's non-oil export during first five months of the current year reached $17 billon while its import hit $22 billion.

The government plans to export non-oil goods and technical services worth $45 billion this year.

China is the first destination for Iran's non-oil exports while Iraq, UAE and India stand at lower levels. About 60 percent of Iran's non-oil goods were exported to the UAE, Germany, China, Turkey, Korea and Switzerland.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Iran is the third largest country in the Middle East and Central Asia in terms of exports and imports.
