Agricultural products worth about $310 million have been exported from Iran's East Azerbaijan Province in current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), said Deputy Director for Economic Affairs of the Department of Agriculture of the East Azerbaijan Province Firuz Bagirzade. Trend reports citing IRNA
According to Bagirzade, exports increased by 40% compared to the same period last year.
The deputy director added that about five million tons of agricultural products could be produced in Eastern Azerbaijan.
"About 70% of the manufactured products are consumed in the region and 30% are exported to other provinces and about 50 countries," he said.
According to the official, four million tons of agricultural products were supplied for processing in the East Azerbaijan province, and this will result in increased revenues from export.
The agricultural area of the province covers about 1.2 million hectares.
