To date, around 394 million cubic meters of gas and 65,000 tonnes of condensates have been produced at Azerbaijan's Umid field, Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh, the First Vice-President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said on June 5 at the 21st International Caspian Oil and Gas-2014 Conference held in Baku.
SOCAR's first vice-president pointed out that the production is carried out from two wells at the field.
Yusifzadeh underscored that the opening of the Absheron gas condensate field with around 350 billion cubic meters of reserves in 2011, played an important role in increasing the confidence in discovering new large fields.
The forecast reserves of such promising structures as Babak, Nakhchivan, Zafar-Mashal, Shafag-Asiman, Araz-Alov-Sharg and the others are around 2.2 trillion cubic meters, according to SOCAR's first vice-president.
SOCAR announced the discovery of the Umid field in 2010. The volume of the field reserves hit over 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate according to the results of drilling of the first exploration well, SOCAR specialists said.
The Umid field is located 75 kilometers from Baku, 40 kilometers away from the coast. The first geophysical work was carried out there in 1953.
Operations were also conducted in 1972 using modern methods. Nine wells were drilled there from 1977 to 1992, without any results.
