The production of motor gasoline in Uzbekistan increased relative to the same period last year by 2.2 percent to 694,000 tons, while diesel fuel decreased by 8.9 percent to 639,000 tons, Trend reports with reference to Uzbekneftegaz.
Last August, the production of gasoline in Uzbekistan decreased compared to the previous month by 5.3 percent, and compared to August last year by 1.6 percent to 83,600 tons, diesel fuel - accordingly increased by 7.9 percent and decreased by 21.8 percent to 58,500 tons.
Currently, there are three large oil refineries in Uzbekistan - Bukhara, Fergana, and Altyaryk, with a total capacity of 11.12 million tons. However, due to a drop in oil production and outdated equipment, the capacities of enterprises have been loaded in recent years by no more than a third.
By 2022, it is planned to modernize the Fergana and Altyaryk refineries in three stages at a cost of $875 million in partnership with American Honeywell UOP, French Axens, and Danish Haldor Topsoe.
Starting from 2020, it was planned to organize the production of high-quality diesel fuel that meets Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards.
The modernization of the Bukhara refinery worth $533 million is also planned to be carried out in three stages, but until 2025 in partnership with the South Korean SK Engineering. After that, the enterprise will be able to process 2.5 million tons of oil and gas condensate per year. The refinery's capacity will be 1.2 million tons of Euro-5 gasoline per year, 200,000 tons of aviation kerosene per year, and 750,000 tons of diesel fuel per year.
In March 2020, the Bukhara Refinery launched the production of high-quality Euro-4 and Euro-5 diesel fuel, with an initial capacity of 100,000 tons per year. The launch of production was carried out as a result of the replacement of the catalyst of the gas oil hydrotreater. Installation and commissioning were carried out with the online support of specialists from the French company Axens.
