ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 8. Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yerbol Myrzabosynov, at the government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, announced that the tourism sector showed steady growth in 2024, Trend reports.
The meeting discussed the progress of the implementation of the President's instructions regarding the development of tourism.
Moreover, the minister noted that the number of domestic tourists amounted to 10.5 million, an increase of 900,000 compared to 2023.
In the course of the meeting, the ministry proposed key initiatives to grant regional akimats (local authorities) the authority to build tourist infrastructure outside populated areas, including in national park territories.
“This step will ensure the development of infrastructure in key tourist destinations. A separate budget program will be developed to finance infrastructure construction in tourist destinations. In addition, to prioritize tourism development in the regions, along with the new competencies, the creation of separate tourism management departments should be considered. Currently, only five regions have separate tourism departments, and two more regions are working on it,” said the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan.
Today, the government is meeting in Kazakhstan under the leadership of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, discussing the development and digitalization of the tourism sector.
