The Yazd-Eqlid railway line in Iran, which is connecting the Yazd city in the Yazd Province with the Eqlid city in the Fars Province, was launched today on July 29, Trend reports citing IRINN.
According to the report, the 270 km long railway line has reduced the distance between the southern provinces of Iran and the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-western Iran) by 310 km.
In general, there will be 12 stations on this railway line. As many as, 5 stations were launched today, the report said.
“It is expected that 1 million passengers and 4 million tons of cargo will be transported via the railway line in the first year. After the launch of all stations on the railway line, 3 million passengers and 7 million tons of cargo will be transported through this railway line a year,” the report said.
According to the report, a total of 14 trillion rials (about $333 million) has been spent on the construction of the railway line.
On July 29, 2021, an event dedicated to the the launch of road and railway lines in 7 provinces of Iran (Yazd, Fars, Zanjan, Qazvin, Isfahan, Alborz and Mazandaran) was held.
The event was attended by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami and other officials online.
