BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 29. The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) plans to allocate $60 million for a project aimed at improving water supply and sanitation in rural areas of Kyrgyzstan's Osh region, Trend reports.
This announcement was made during a joint portfolio review meeting between Kyrgyzstan and the EFSD.
It was noted that the project is currently in the preparation stages and will provide access to clean drinking water for 130,000 people across 32 settlements. In addition to establishing basic infrastructure, the project will support the development of water supply management systems.
The meeting also covered progress on the second phase of the Toktogul hydropower plant rehabilitation. EFSD has allocated $100 million to this project. The replacement of two hydroelectric units, No. 4 and No. 2, has already been made. Currently, installation work is underway for the main and auxiliary equipment of hydroelectric unit No. 1.
Additionally, it was noted that the stabilization financing program and reform support for Kyrgyzstan, amounting to $160 million, have been completed.
The EFSD has also allocated $1.45 million in grant funding for the technical assistance project titled "Development of an Automated Taxpayer Categorization System 'Taxpayer Rating' and Digital Taxpayer Profile Module in Kyrgyzstan." This initiative aims to enable companies to assess potential business partners.
The EFSD is a regional financial institution with assets exceeding $9 billion, established in 2009. Its objectives include promoting economic and financial stability in member states and supporting their sustainable development.
