DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 12. The internal trade of the Sughd region in Tajikistan reached 8.381 billion somoni ($763 million) from January through June 2023, which is 11.1 percent higher than in the same period in 2022, Chairman of the Sughd region, Rajabbay Ahmadzoda, said, Trend reports.
He mentioned that foreign trade turnover of the region amounted to $1.350 billion. Additionally, the volume of paid services provided to the population amounted to 2.120 billion somoni ($122 million), which is a 4.3-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022.
Ahmadzoda further added that within the first six months of the current year, the volume of industrial production in the region reached 12.106 billion somoni ($1.1 billion), which is an 11 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The value of the agricultural production in the region totaled 4.201 billion somoni ($382 million), increasing 15 percent year-on-year.
Ahmadzoda said that despite the negative impact of crisis factors and various international processes, Tajikistan, including the Sughd region, has experienced consistent development in the economy and social sphere during the years of independence.
In total, since the beginning of this year, 180 large, medium, and small production facilities have been put into operation in the Sughd region. Out of these, 100 are new, while 80 were temporarily non-functional for various reasons.
